White linens, sheets and pillow cases are recommended along with a light warm colored duvet cover.  This will make your guests feel welcome and they will be able to see that the bed is clean and fresh.  Curtains, area rugs and cushions can be either matching or complementary to the color of the duvet cover.  Paying a little more for quality merchandise from trusted brands is a good way to go.  The bedding will last a lot longer and retain its crisp look.  Cheap bedding will soon lose its looks and will quickly degrade due to wear and tear.  Quality products represent better value and last longer.

Towels and amenities show your guests you care.  As with sheets and pillow cases, towels should be white so that your guests can see they are clean and fresh.  Good quality towels will give a much better drying experience and have a luxury feel.  They will also last longer than cheap thin towels.  Amenities are another nice touch that enhance your guests visit.  A set of hotel size body wash, shampoo, lotion and mouthwash are a welcome addition that will make your guests feel special.

Furniture with a classic look and durable fabric will last well and look good for years.  Look for furniture which is well made and reasonably robust.  Avoid furniture with flimsy construction, easily soiled fabric or fleetingly fashionable styles.  Such furniture soon looks tired and dated or worse still damaged.  Classic styles will endure and never be out of fashion.

Fitting a digital front door lock is highly recommended for ease of operations.  No more lost keys and you don’t have to be present when your guests arrive.  Simply text them a code number and they can let themselves in at any time.  When their stay is completed, simply change the code number for the next guest and the departing guest will no longer have access.  Digital locks can equally well be used for bedroom doors.  A good alternative to fitting digital locks to bedroom doors is to fit deadbolts.  With deadbolts it is impossible for your guests to accidentally lock the key inside the room.  The door can only be locked from the outside by using the key.

A three ring binder is a good way to organize your guest guidebook.  Print your content pages and slip them into transparent protective sleeves.  Put a nice photograph of your home on the front.  It is also handy to have some sticky notes and a pen for your guests or your use.
